Microneedling
Microneedling uses a device with tiny, fine needles to create micro-injuries in the skin. Those controlled injuries set your body’s own healing process to work, encouraging the collagen and elastin that keep skin firm and smooth. It is used for fine lines, acne scars, large pores and uneven texture, it is safe for all skin types, and our aesthetic nurse injectors perform it in Fresno, California.

Microneedling?
Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment that uses a device with tiny, fine needles to create micro-injuries in the skin. These controlled injuries stimulate the body’s natural healing process, encouraging the production of collagen and elastin, the proteins that keep skin firm, smooth and youthful. As a result, microneedling helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, large pores and uneven skin texture.
During the procedure the device is passed gently over the treatment area, creating microscopic channels in the skin. Those same channels enhance the absorption of serums and skin care products, which makes what you apply afterward more effective.
Microneedling is safe for all skin types and requires minimal downtime. Patients typically experience some redness and mild swelling for a day or two after treatment, with noticeable improvements in the skin’s texture and tone developing over several weeks as collagen production increases.
Our two aesthetic nurse injectors perform microneedling at Mafi Plastic Surgery in Fresno, customizing each treatment to your skin rather than working from a fixed menu. It is offered with or without platelet-rich plasma, and which of the two your skin calls for is settled at the consultation, once someone has actually looked at it.
Microneedling suits every skin type, so the question at your consultation is usually less about whether your skin can have it and more about what you want it to do.
Downtime is minimal. Most patients have some redness and mild swelling for a day or two after the treatment.
Improvements in texture and tone develop over several weeks as collagen production increases, so the change is judged at a follow-up rather than in the mirror on your way out.
The microscopic channels the needles create also enhance how well serums and skin care absorb, which is why what you use at home is planned as part of the treatment.

Am I a candidate for microneedling?
Skin that repairs itself, on purpose.
Microneedling is safe for all skin types, so what it can do for yours is settled by looking at your skin, not by ruling it out in advance. It may be a fit if you’re looking to:
Soften Fine Lines
Fine lines and wrinkles you would like to see softened.
Improve Acne Scarring
Scarring left behind by acne.
Refine Large Pores
Pores that look larger than you would like.
Even Out Texture
Skin texture that reads as uneven, rough or irregular.
Build Firmness
Firmness and smoothness you would rather rebuild with your own collagen than add with a product.

Texture and tone,rebuilt.
The case below is one patient of the practice, photographed before treatment and after it settled. Drag the seam to compare. Microneedling works by prompting collagen, so the change develops over several weeks rather than immediately.

Common questions about microneedling
There is no single price. What you pay follows what your skin needs and whether platelet-rich plasma is part of the treatment, so you are quoted once you and your injector have agreed on a plan rather than off a list. Mafi Plastic Surgery works with CareCredit, Cherry and PatientFi, so the cost can be spread across monthly payments, and our team is happy to help you apply.
