Microneedling with PRP

Platelet-rich plasma, often called the “vampire facial,” is derived from your own blood and carries growth factors that accelerate healing and regeneration. A small draw is processed to separate the plasma, which goes on during and immediately after your microneedling so it reaches the channels the needles have opened. Our aesthetic nurse injectors perform it in Fresno, California.

Why add
PRP?

Microneedling can be enhanced with the addition of platelet-rich plasma, often referred to as the “vampire facial.” PRP is derived from the patient’s own blood and contains growth factors that accelerate the skin’s healing and regeneration process.

After drawing a small amount of blood, it is processed to separate the plasma, which is rich in platelets. This PRP is then applied to the skin during and immediately after the microneedling session, allowing it to penetrate deeply through the micro-channels the needles have created.

PRP may also be injected directly into the tear trough area, to promote targeted collagen and elastin production. The aim there is increased skin integrity, diminished fine lines and wrinkles, and an improvement in the appearance of dark circles underneath the eye.

Microneedling with PRP can amplify the effects of traditional microneedling, providing faster and more dramatic improvements in skin texture, tone and overall rejuvenation. It is particularly effective for treating acne scars, sun damage and other signs of aging.

Our two aesthetic nurse injectors offer microneedling with or without PRP at Mafi Plastic Surgery in Fresno, customizing each treatment to your own skin. Which version yours calls for is a consultation question, not one to settle from a website.

PRP is derived from the patient’s own blood. A small amount is drawn, then processed to separate the plasma that is rich in platelets. Nothing comes from a donor.

The plasma goes on during and immediately after the microneedling session, which is what lets it penetrate deeply through the micro-channels the needles have created.

PRP may also be injected directly into the tear trough area, to prompt targeted collagen and elastin production and improve the appearance of dark circles underneath the eye.

It is particularly effective for acne scars, sun damage and other signs of aging, and it can make the improvement in texture and tone faster and more dramatic than microneedling alone.

Am I a candidate for microneedling with PRP?

Your own growth factors, where the needles have been.

PRP is added when a stronger response is the aim. Whether it belongs in your treatment, or whether microneedling on its own is enough, is decided after your injector has looked at your skin. It may be a fit if you’re looking to:

Treat Acne Scars

Acne scarring, which PRP is particularly effective for.

Address Sun Damage

Sun damage and the other signs of aging PRP is aimed at.

Amplify Microneedling

Faster and more dramatic improvement in texture and tone than microneedling on its own.

Soften Dark Circles

Dark circles underneath the eye, where PRP can be placed directly in the tear trough.

Use Your Own Biology

A treatment that works from growth factors in your own blood rather than a product.

Common questions about microneedling with PRP

There is no single price for either version, and PRP adds steps to the appointment, so the two are not quoted the same way. What you pay follows the plan you and your injector agree on after your skin has been assessed. Mafi Plastic Surgery works with CareCredit, Cherry and PatientFi, so the cost can be spread across monthly payments, and our team is happy to help you apply.
